"Well, we certainly don't all live in igloos anymore! However, we still have kept many traditions. Throat singing has been around for a while. It's a style of music where two people, usually women, echo each other's rhythm. Standing face to face, one sings a few phrases with his or her throat, and the other responds with the exact same phrasing shortly thereafter. Sometimes only one will sing, and other times the music is accompanied by drum dancing. It really is remarkable, and very entertaining. As well, the Inuit people are still avid hunters and gather food locally as they have for hundreds of years." |
