Arctic VS. Antarctic Go back one page |

"Though their names sound the same, there are many differences between the Arctic and the Antarctic. After all, they're located on complete ends of the Earth! For one thing, while we have multiple communities of people living here in the Arctic, the only people that live in the Antarctic are those doing research. While the Arctic flourishes with plants when a layer of permafrost melts in the summer, most of the Antarctic is covered by a large ice sheet, so only a few types of plants can grow there. Also, you won't find polar bears in the Antarctic, and similarly you won't find penguins in the Arctic." |
